The Caribbean Climate Outlook Forum (CariCOF) for the 2023-2024 Dry Season is set to take place on November 29th and 30th at the State House on Victoria Street in Roseau, Dominica. This year’s forum will place a particular emphasis on Dominica, targeting the climate and health sectors under the Intra ACP Climate Services and Related Application (ClimSA) Programme.
CariCOF plays a crucial role in developing and delivering effective early warning information systems for the Caribbean region. It aims to provide tailored climate services that support climate variability and change adaptation, as well as disaster risk reduction. The forum addresses the growing threats from extreme weather and climate events, including tropical cyclones, droughts, floods, and increasing heat events.
The 2023-2024 Dry Season CariCOF will continue its focus on the water, agriculture, and food security sectors, considering the implications of the dry season on water resources management and agricultural production. However, with Dominica being the target country for climate and health under the ClimSA Programme, this year’s forum will also highlight the health sector.
Members of the media are invited to attend the forum, which will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on both days at the State House. The discussions and insights shared during the forum are expected to contribute significantly to Dominica’s climate resilience and preparedness in the face of changing climate patterns.
