The anticipation is palpable as Dominica prepares to host Mas Domnik 2024, the Real Mas, promising a carnival experience like no other. Scheduled for February 12 and 13, 2024, this year’s Carnival is set to captivate both locals and visitors with its colorful festivities, pulsating music, and infectious celebration of culture.

The festivities kick off on Carnival Monday (Lendi Gwa), with the rhythmic beats of J’ouvert filling the streets from 4 am to 10 am. The energy reaches a crescendo as Electronic Bands take the stage from 7 am to 10 am. Spectators will be treated to a visual feast as the Ole Mas Parade unfolds from 10 am to 2 pm, followed by the School Bands Parade from 11 am to 3 pm. The day culminates with the vibrant T-Shirt Band Parade, keeping the party alive until 10 pm.

Carnival Tuesday (Madi Gwa) promises even more excitement, starting with the Pageant Winners Parade from 10 am to 1 pm. The highlight of the day, the Costume Bands Parade, takes center stage from 11 am to 10 pm, followed by the Last Lap from 6 pm to 10 pm, marking the grand finale of the carnival extravaganza.

To ensure a safe and enjoyable carnival experience for all, strict regulations will be enforced. These include a zero-tolerance policy towards open fire, illegal drugs, weapons, and harmful substances along the parade routes. Band leaders have been tasked with ensuring that participants adhere to the laws of the Commonwealth of Dominica, with non-compliance potentially resulting in removal from the festivities and disqualification from judging contests.

The Parade Route for Carnival Monday and Carnival Tuesday will commence at the intersection of Kennedy Avenue and Independence Street in Roseau, continuing along Independence Street, King George V Street, and the Dame Eugenia Charles Boulevard (The Bay Front), before looping back to the starting point.

As we eagerly anticipate Mas Domnik 2024, let us remember that a peaceful carnival is a fun carnival. Let’s come together to make this year’s celebration a testament to peace, inclusivity, and joy for all. Let’s create unforgettable memories, cherish serene moments, and immerse ourselves in the vibrant spirit of the Real Mas, all while prioritizing the safety and well-being of our community.

Stay tuned for updates and highlights from Mas Domnik 2024, the Real Mas!
