Roseau, Dominica June 18, 2024: The cherished legacy of Dominica’s St. Andrew’s High School will be celebrated and preserved with a Grand Reunion slated for July 6-12, 2025. An organization of past students has come together to stage this significant event in the Commonwealth of Dominica.
Since the school closed its doors in 2006, numerous attempts have been made to reunite former students. However, according to the Executive Chair of the St. Andrew’s Reunion Committee, Mr. Wilworth “Riggly” Robin, “this hurdle has been crossed and the Grand St. Andrew’s Reunion is on.”
St. Andrew’s High School commenced operations in the Londonderry area in 1979, addressing a critical need for educational facilities for students from the North and North-East of Dominica. In the wake of Hurricane David, established institutions had lower capacities, making access to secondary education challenging. The Methodist Church, recognized as a special collaborating partner and the honored institution of the 2025 Grand Reunion, responded to this pressing need, fostering not only educational opportunities but also broader community development.
Between 1979 and 2006, St. Andrew’s High School bridged the gap between past and future, dreams and realities, serving as a foundation of spiritual belief, faith, and progress for its students. The upcoming Grand Reunion will bring together past students, former staff members, teachers, the Methodist Church, affiliates, and well-wishers to celebrate this rich heritage.
The reunion activities will commence with a Grand Pre-launch on Sunday, July 7, 2024, at 6 PM, which will be broadcast live on ZOOM and Facebook. This event aims to engage and inform the St. Andrew’s community in preparation for the Public Media Launch.
The reunion committee is actively encouraging all St. Andrew’s High School alumni to register their interest in attending the Grand Reunion 2025. The event is themed “Our Foundation, Our Legacy,” reflecting the enduring impact of the school on its students and the community.
