Arson Confirmed in Tragic Christmas Day Fire in Linden, Guyana

Nate Media, Linden, Guyana – December 29, 2023

The Guyana Fire Service (GFS) has officially stated that the devastating Christmas Day fire in Linden, which claimed the lives of three family members, was deliberately set. The victims of the tragic incident have been identified as 30-year-old Zella Lawrence, 16-year-old Angelique Lawrence, and eight-year-old Ronika Lawrence.

The fire erupted during the early hours of Christmas Day, and despite the efforts of firefighters who managed to confine the blaze to the building’s bottom floor, the occupants of the two-story building, unfortunately, lost their lives.

In a recent statement, the GFS revealed that thorough investigations have concluded, pointing to malicious intent by unknown individuals as the cause of the fire. The fire prevention officials were able to determine that the fire was deliberately set, resulting in the loss of lives and significant damage to the property.

While the blaze was contained to the lower floor, where a single sofa set was destroyed, and four meters of ceiling, along with a substantial amount of clothing, suffered damage, the family members succumbed to the fire.

The GFS expressed its deepest condolences to the relatives and friends of the deceased and urged anyone with information that could lead to the apprehension of the person or persons responsible for this heinous crime to contact the police.

Nate Media continues to follow this tragic incident and extends heartfelt sympathy to the affected family.
