In a devastating incident on December 28th, 2023, a canyoning expedition in the picturesque Roseau Valley turned tragic as 28-year-old Karlyn Langridge, a tourist from British Columbia, Canada, lost her life. Karlyn and her 27-year-old boyfriend embarked on the canyoning adventure, exploring the natural wonders of Dominica.
Around 11:40 am, tragedy struck when Karlyn, while rappelling down a waterfall at Trafalgar, became unresponsive. Local tour guides and first responders from the fire and ambulance services swiftly arrived at the scene to provide assistance. Despite their efforts, Karlyn remained unresponsive. The emergency services transported her to the Dominica-China Friendship Hospital’s Emergency Department, where a medical doctor examined her and pronounced her dead.
The Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking incident and extends its sincere condolences to the family of the deceased, Karlyn Langridge of Canada.
