St. Andrew Resident Arrested for Illegal Firearms, Ammunition, and Drug Possession

Telescope-St Andrew, Grenada – January 10, 2024

The Royal Grenada Police Force has stated that, a St. Andrew resident is now facing serious charges related to the possession of illegal firearms, ammunition, and controlled substances after what can be called a significant operation conducted by the force.

On Friday, January 5, 2024, officers from the Drug Squad and Major Crimes Units executed a search warrant at the residence of Akim Williams, a 29-year-old fisherman from Telescope, St. Andrew. The operation yielded alarming discoveries, including two (2) 9mm pistols, thirty-six (36) rounds of 9mm ammunition, ten (10) pounds two (2) ounces of cannabis with an estimated street value of $22,963.00, and eighty-five (85) grams of crack cocaine valued at $850.00.

Mr. Williams was promptly arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including Possession of Illegal Firearms, Possession of Ammunition, and Trafficking in Controlled Drugs. Following his arrest, he appeared before the Grenville Magistrate’s Court on Monday, January 8, 2024, where he was remanded in custody at His Majesty’s Prisons.

The Office of the Commissioner of Police encouraged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities that may contribute to the safety and security of the community.

Mr. Williams is scheduled to make his next court appearance on Monday, January 15, 2024, where the legal proceedings will continue.
