Nate Media issues a critical caution to the Dominican and Eastern Caribbean communities, especially those actively engaged in Carnival festivities in Dominica and Trinidad & Tobago, based on recent reports of counterfeit US currency circulating in various Caribbean and US territories.
In the past week, several incidents of counterfeit US currency, specifically in denominations of twenty-dollar, fifty-dollar, and one-hundred-dollar bills, have been reported. Of particular concern are the one-hundred-dollar notes, clearly marked “For Motion Picture Use Only.” These fake bills are easily identifiable, and individuals are strongly advised not to accept them under any circumstances. If you come across a one-hundred-dollar bill with this marking, refrain from proceeding with the transaction and report it immediately.
Merchants, Business Owners, and Operators are urged to exercise extra caution when handling cash payments, especially in the mentioned denominations. Take the time to inspect bills for watermarks, security threads, and other anti-counterfeiting features to safeguard businesses from financial losses associated with counterfeit currency.
To all citizens and residents, stay vigilant when dealing with cash. Report any suspicious or counterfeit notes to the appropriate authorities, as unknowingly accepting counterfeit currency can lead to financial losses.
A plea is extended to those involved in distributing counterfeit currency to cease this illegal activity immediately. Counterfeiting money is a serious offense that jeopardizes the trust and stability of the financial system, carrying severe legal consequences.
