Roseau, Dominica – June 3, 2024

Dominica Electricity Services Limited (DOMLEC) has appointed Ayeola George as its new Public Relations Officer (PRO). Ms. George, a communication expert and radio personality, takes over from Mrs. Adina Bellot-Valentine, who served in the position for 15 years. Ms. Tamra Paul also temporarily filled the role following Mrs. Bellot-Valentine’s departure. DOMLEC extends its gratitude to both for their dedicated service.
In her new role, Ms. George will act as the spokesperson for DOMLEC, managing media relations, social media, and public engagement. She will also oversee internal communications, including providing content for the company’s intranet and website. Additionally, she will handle crisis communications, corporate communications, and reputation management. Ms. George will also host and produce DOMLEC’s weekly radio program, “Power Talk.”
“We are excited to have Ayeola join the team at DOMLEC,” said Ellise Darwton, Legal Officer and Acting General Manager. “She has a solid background, and we look forward to what she brings to the table, particularly as we are in a period of transformation and transition to a future of renewable energy production.”
Ms. George expressed her enthusiasm about her new role, stating, “I am looking forward to my tenure at DOMLEC. I feel esteemed to be a bridge between DOMLEC and its stakeholders and hope my efforts will lead to better understandings among the company and its various audiences.”
Prior to joining DOMLEC, Ms. George served as an Information Officer at the Dominica Export Import Agency (DEXIA) and has worked as a communication consultant with major development organizations such as the FAO, UNDP, IOM, World Bank, NAO, and GIZ over the past 15 years. She is a published writer whose work has been featured in Caribbean publications, as well as in the US and Canada, often focusing on promoting Caribbean and Dominican talents.
Ms. George is a graduate of the Caribbean Institute of Media and Communication (CARIMAC) at the University of the West Indies (UWI) Mona Campus, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Media and Communication with a focus on Public Relations. She commenced her duties at DOMLEC on May 21, 2024, and reports directly to the General Manager.
