Martinique Deepens Strategic Airline Partnerships During U.S. Visit

DALLAS-FORT WORTH, TX – July 21, 2025

In a move to bolster regional airlift and reinforce cultural diplomacy, the Martinique Tourism Authority strengthened its strategic partnership with American Airlines during a high-profile Caribbean-American Heritage Month celebration hosted at the airline’s headquarters in Dallas-Fort Worth.

Held under the banner “Threads of Influence,” the event was led by American Airlines’ Caribbean Employee Business Resource Group and brought together key tourism stakeholders, including representatives from The Bahamas, Belize, Jamaica, and Martinique, along with senior AA executives and diaspora members.

Representing Martinique was Muriel Wiltord, Director of the Americas for the Martinique Tourism Authority. Wiltord delivered a compelling presentation that underscored Martinique’s increasing appeal to American travelers. Highlighting the island’s three UNESCO designations, accessible location, robust healthcare infrastructure, and distinctive cultural offerings, Wiltord invited attendees to “make it your own,” positioning Martinique as a destination of both elegance and authenticity.

The event also featured a panel discussion on the future of Caribbean tourism with Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) Secretary-General Dona Regis-Prosper, who was joined by American Airlines senior leadership including Brian Znotins, Ralph Lopez Massas, and José Freig. Topics ranged from sustainable tourism to network planning and the value of data in strengthening tourism resilience and development.

Martinique’s presence at the event solidified its ongoing relationship with American Airlines, which currently provides nonstop service from Miami—a vital gateway to the U.S. mainland and an essential component of the island’s air access strategy. By directly engaging with AA executives and frontline staff, Martinique reaffirmed its commitment to route sustainability and strategic destination marketing in key North American markets.

“Martinique’s participation reflects our broader mission to engage meaningfully with institutional partners, build brand awareness, and ensure that tourism development aligns with our identity and sustainability goals,” said Wiltord.

The event not only emphasized Martinique’s growing influence but also the vibrant role of Caribbean diaspora communities and cultures in shaping American societal trends, tourism flows, and airline connectivity.
