St. George’s, Grenada – Saturday 10th February, 2024
The University of the West Indies, Seismic Research Center (UWI SRC), has alerted the National Disaster Management Agency in Grenada (NaDMA) to heightened seismic activity at the Kick’em-Jenny Submarine Volcano, commencing at 23:14 on Friday, 9th February 2024, and persisting. The most significant seismic event, measuring 3.3, occurred on February 10th, with reports of tremors felt in the northern regions of Grenada.
UWI SRC continues to monitor the situation closely, with four fully operational seismic stations stationed in the north of Grenada, dedicated to tracking Kick’em-Jenny’s activity.
In accordance with UWI SRC’s assessment, the alert level for Kick’em-Jenny remains at YELLOW. This designation mandates that all marine interests maintain a safety exclusion zone of 1.5 km around the volcano.
NaDMA is actively monitoring developments and will furnish updates as the situation evolves.

Kick’em-Jenny Submarine Volcano Alert Levels:
- GREEN: Volcano is quiescent, with seismic and fumarolic activity at or below historical levels. No unusual activity observed.
- YELLOW: Volcano is restless; seismicity or fumarolic activity above historical levels, or other unusual activity observed.
- ORANGE: Highly elevated seismicity or fumarolic activity, or other highly unusual symptoms. Eruption may occur with less than 24 hours’ notice.
- RED: Eruption in progress or imminent without further warning.
