Mahaut, Dominica – July 22 2024
The Major Crime Unit of the Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force is investigating a fatal shooting incident that occurred in Mahaut. On the evening of Saturday, July 20, 2024, at approximately 10:50 PM, two men were shot while sitting on a flight of steps outside a bar on the western side of the EO Leblanc Highway in Mahaut.
Antonio James, 36, a resident of Mahaut, sustained multiple gunshot injuries. He was examined and pronounced dead at the scene by a medical doctor. Lester Esprit, 54, also of Mahaut, sustained gunshot injuries as a result of the incident and is currently a patient at the Dominica China Friendship Hospital.
The Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force has expressed sincere condolences to the family and friends of Antonio James and wishes Lester Esprit a speedy and full recovery.
The police are actively seeking information related to this fatal shooting incident.
