Dominica Launches 25th Anniversary Edition of the World Creole Music Festival

Global Echoes of the Nature Island” Theme to Highlight Culture, Unity, and Caribbean Rhythms

ROSEAU, Dominica – July 10, 2025

The countdown has officially begun for one of the region’s most electrifying cultural showcases as Dominica launches the 25th edition of the World Creole Music Festival (WCMF), scheduled for October 24 to 26, 2025, at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium.

The festival will be celebrated under the theme:
“Global Echoes of the Nature Island: Celebrating 25 Years of Creole Music, Magic, and Memories.”

Hosted by the Ministry of Tourism and the Discover Dominica Authority (DDA), this landmark silver anniversary edition pays tribute to the past, present, and future of Creole culture and music, while reaffirming Dominica’s leadership in cultural tourism and regional entertainment.

“The World Creole Music Festival is a cultural flagship that has elevated Dominica’s visibility and amplified the voices of Creole people everywhere,” stated Marva Williams, CEO of DDA and Director of Tourism. “As we commemorate 25 years, we are proud to present a line-up that reflects the evolution of our sound, culture and Caribbean identity.”

Three Nights, Three Vibrant Themes

Night One – Fire & Foundation (Friday, October 24):
Honoring pioneers and musical trailblazers with a rich blend of Caribbean heritage sounds:

  • Burning Flames (Antigua)
  • Midnight Groovers, Halibut, Gilles Fontaine, TK International (Dominica)
  • Nu Look (Haiti/USA)
  • Romain Virgo (Jamaica)
  • Oswald (St. Maarten)
  • Steel Pulse (UK/Jamaica)

Night Two – Creole Carnival (Saturday, October 25):
A high-energy display of modern Creole fusion and Carnival intensity:

  • Asa Bantan, WCK, First Serenade Band, Gordon Henderson, Ophelia Marie, Lynford John, The Bouyon Assembly (Dominica)
    • Featuring: Rohie, Ridge, Pudaz, Kenny G, Quan, DJ MJ, Little Boy, Faithi “Bouyon Barbie,” Ebony Empress

  • Joé Dwét Filé (Haiti/France)

Night Three – The Grand Finale (Sunday, October 26):
A spectacular sendoff with chart-topping acts and beloved regional voices:

  • Kassav (Guadeloupe & Martinique)

More Than Music – A Creole Cultural Celebration

Since its inception in 1997, the World Creole Music Festival has grown into a pillar of Caribbean cultural expression, celebrating genres such as zouk, bouyon, kompa, reggae, dancehall, soca, afrobeat, and more. The 25th edition invites fans to celebrate not just music but history, heritage, and identity.

Visitors are encouraged to arrive early and stay longer to enjoy a series of fringe events, cultural exhibitions, and to explore Dominica’s eco-tourism attractions, from rivers and rainforests to local cuisine and village life.
