National swimmer Jasmine Schofield has set a new national record at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympic Games. Schofield swam a personal best of 29.91 seconds in the women’s 50-meter freestyle, finishing in 3rd place in her heat this morning. This performance surpasses her previous personal best of 30.26 seconds.
Jasmine Schofield is the first female swimmer to represent Dominica at the Olympics since her mother, Francilia Agar, competed in the 2000 Sydney Games. Her achievement marks a significant milestone for Dominican swimming, showcasing the progress and potential of the nation’s athletes on the world stage.
Despite her record-breaking performance and commendable effort, Schofield’s time was not fast enough to advance to the next round of the competition. However, her accomplishment has inspired many and set a new benchmark for future Dominican swimmers.
