“Strictly the Best Festival: Bouyon Edition” Draws Over 5,000 in Unprecedented Regional Celebration
ST. MAARTEN – May 12, 2025 — In what is being described as a cultural watershed moment for Bouyon music, over 5,000 fans gathered at Lotterie Farm in St. Maarten for the island’s inaugural festival entirely dedicated to Bouyon rhythms. Titled “Strictly the Best Festival: Bouyon Edition,” the event was organized by Two Brothers Entertainment and brought together Dominica’s Bouyon elite with rising St. Maarten-based talent for a historic night of music, unity, and Caribbean pride.
Anchoring the event was Mr Ridge, Dominica’s reigning Bouyon Artist of the Year, whose electrifying set closed the festival with a powerful gesture of solidarity — inviting all Bouyon performers back on stage for a spontaneous joint finale.
“There’s been tension in the scene,” Mr Ridge acknowledged, “but I believe the world is watching Bouyon now. This moment was bigger than any feud — it was about showing that Dominica, St. Maarten, and Bouyon music can stand united.”

A New Chapter for Bouyon
The festival marked a bold pivot for Two Brothers Entertainment, a promotion company originally known for reggae and dancehall events. Established during the 2021 Carnival season, the organization made a deliberate move to support the fast-rising Bouyon genre, recognizing its regional and global potential.
“With Bouyon’s momentum building, we knew it was time to give fans something fresh,” said festival organizers. “This was more than a concert — it was a movement.”
The lineup included powerhouse performers such as Pudaz, Litle Boy, Quandan, Freddy, Reo, Nice, Kenny G, Trilla G, Trixx, Unstoppable Shax, Khallion, and Edday, alongside local favourites T.G. Band and Turrxxdem Band, with top DJs from St. Maarten and across the diaspora keeping the energy alive throughout the night.
Rain Couldn’t Dampen the Spirit
Even as rain fell midway through the event, spirits remained high. The crowd danced undeterred, embodying the unbreakable spirit of Bouyon. “People danced in the rain. No one wanted to leave,” organizers reflected. “By the end of the night, fans were already asking who’s headlining next year.”
Though no formal announcement has been made about a second edition, Two Brothers Entertainment has confirmed plans to stage more Bouyon-themed events regionally, signalling a long-term commitment to the genre’s expansion.
