Published: Monday, October 28, 2024

The 24th Annual World Creole Music Festival drew thousands of visitors and locals to the Windsor Park Sports Stadium this past weekend, delivering three nights of unforgettable performances and cultural celebration. From start to finish, the festival lived up to its reputation as Dominica’s premier cultural showcase, offering an experience that attendees widely agreed was “worth every cent.”
Night One opened the festival with a powerful display of local talent, setting the stage with pulsating rhythms and a strong sense of national pride. The atmosphere was electric as homegrown acts reminded the crowd why the festival remains rooted in Dominican identity.
Night Two blended regional and international performances, filling the stadium with energy as fans danced, sang along and celebrated the diversity of Creole music. The fusion of genres reflected not only the island’s cultural ties across the Caribbean, but also the festival’s growing international reach.
The final evening, Night Three, brought the celebrations to a climax with standout performances that kept spirits high well into the early hours. For many, the closing acts were the highlight of the weekend — an expression of artistry, endurance and togetherness that summed up what the festival means for Dominica and its visitors alike.

Beyond the stage, the festival experience extended to food, fashion and fellowship. Vendors filled the grounds with the aroma of Creole cuisine, from steaming crab backs to roasted meats and provisions, while festival-goers showcased their style in colorful outfits inspired by traditional wear.
On the morning after, the spirit of celebration carried into the community of Belles, where many gathered to relax and reconnect. There, amidst shared meals, local rum tastings and conversations with residents, visitors experienced the quieter but equally powerful side of Dominican culture — hospitality, storytelling and the rhythms of everyday life.
The 2024 World Creole Music Festival was more than a weekend of entertainment. It was a reaffirmation of Dominica’s cultural heartbeat, a space where music, food, and community came together in one of the region’s most distinctive and welcoming atmospheres.
